Title: The Powerless God

Blog Entry: The arguments
We've all heard it, "god is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, omni benevolent." Everything you thought you knew about god's powers is wrong. Firstly, there is the small problem of the naming of abilities, by saying a entity has unlimited power in specific field of expertise limits it's power in all others. Placing simple human definitions on a non-human entity cannot properly define the deity.
The core of the issue deals with the actual characteristics. One says that god is all powerful, all knowing, all seeing, and all loving. The easiest way to break down this whole belief is to point out theses characteristics are contradictory to each other.
Omnipotence: Is god all-powerful? Here is a simple test of Omnipotence: "Can god create a boulder he cannot move?" Omnipotence is self contradictory. The irresistible force vs. an immovable object, shows that Omnipotence is impossible.
Omni benevolence: Can god be all-loving? The fact that evil exists in the world shows that god is not very loving. But if he just so happened to be this loving god many Christians claim him to be, then he either doesn't know evils exists or isn't capable of destroying evil.
The characteristic of Omni benevolence contradicts either Omniscience or Omnipotence or both!
Omniscience/Omnipresence: Can god be all knowing/all seeing? Once again god shows us that his unwillingness to eliminate evil (assuming he is Omnipotent), means he must not know of the existence of evil.
[Summary]
IF: Omnipotent:: NOT: Omnipresent/Omni benevolent/Omniscient.
IF: Omni benevolent:: NOT: Omnipotent/Omnipresent/Omniscient
IF: Omnipresent/Omniscient:: NOT: Omnipotent/Omni benevolent
IF: Omni benevolent:: NOT: Omnipresent/Omniscient/Omnipotent
If: Omnipotent/Omnipresent/Omni benevolent/Omniscient:: CANNOT: exist!
IF NOT: Omnipotent or Omnipresent or Omni benevolent or Omniscient:: NOT: a god!
"The evidence"
(This is evidence only if you assume the 'holy babble' is a valid reference source)
God doesn't show any Omniscience, Omni benevolence, Omnipresence, Omnipotence as so many Christians will claim he has, the first book of the bible shows god's inability to know everything and see everything and of course love everything!
[Gen:8-13] (I'll sum up these few verses for you, it is a bit lengthy). Adam and Eve eat of the tree and see that they are naked and make fig-leaf-clothing, they dash off into the forest to hide, god calls out and asks where they are (why would an all-knowing/all-seeing deity not know where the only two humans on the entire earth are?), Adam says he is naked and hid from god due to fear, god asks who told you, you were naked? (maybe his omniscience is malfunctioning or something, maybe fig leaves are to god as kryptonite is to superman?), god FINALLY catches on and asks if they ate of the tree, Adam says yes and blames it on Eve, Eve blames it on the snake and then all hell breaks loose (actually god blows a fuse and goes on a rampage punishing the stupid humans).
He isn't so smart as far as the bible is concerned, maybe god was just playing dumb or something, who knows!?
Besides his power-limitations, god also displays a lack of omni benevolence right here in chapter 3 of genesis, during the "fall of man." I've been watching over this little tussle that's been going on and made some interesting observations.
God's anger eventually leads to several punishments to the bad guys:
ok then in [Gen:14] god curses the serpent to crawl on his belly and eat dust... have you seen serpents eating much dust lately, my snakes eat rats and mice...?
[Gen:16] "unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shallot bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over the." here is one of god's curses, the suffering of women (I don't see many women today being too damn obedient to their husbands, perhaps god is just getting tired of enforcing his own rules. Plus how is it that all women get punished with suffering, just because of a fruit-munching idiot? Just remember, if your wife happens to die from child birth complications it is Eve's fault for eating fruit!).
Of course Adam doesn't get away scott free either, he was an accomplice in the first thought crime (how dare they wish to become smart!). [Gen:17-19] Adam is cursed to eat of the ground and eat thorns and thistles (have you eaten your thorns and thistles today? huh? HUH?!!!! If not you are disobeying god!) and of course he must eat herbs (is god commanding Adam to smoke pot? isn't that wrong? I think it's wrong to smoke pot, but god said to so hey, what can you do...?). finally he curses man to eventually die and return to the earth and become dust since we are made of dust (speaking of dust, maybe I just forgot, but which one of our chemistry/biology/anatomy books states: "the human body is composed of 100% dust?" I thought we were like 70% water and various combinations of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, along with many other less abundant chemicals).
God finally catches on after the whole incident is over and decides to place some cherubim in from of his other favorite tree "tree of life." (don't want those disobedient humans to live long happy lives right?). But in all his infinite wisdom, shouldn't god have foreseen "the fall" and maybe he could just place his little cherubim in front of both trees and stop the whole messy business of eternal human suffering.... but no, it's not god's job to keep a close eye on his creations, it's man's fault for being created so stupid and ignorant of good an evil, it's our fault god didn't instill morals in us at creation! does anyone else see the flaws here?
Later on in the bible we can find god unable to perform certain tasks, if a god cannot perform any task then he is not Omnipotent, right? The following quotes tell us god can do anything:
[Jer.
32:17] Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee:
[Jer.
32:27] Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
[Mt.19:26, Mk.10:27] With God all things are possible.
"
But what about:
[Jg.1:19] And the LORD was with Judah; and he drove out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron. (wow, god can't move iron chariots huh? Is iron really that strong, I mean even I can take out a iron chariot, just have to lob an anti-tank round at it and there will be nothing left... I'm more powerful that god!)
[Mk. 6:5] And he could there do no mighty work.
[Heb.6:18] It was impossible for God to lie.
Does this sound like an all-powerful, supreme being to you, I'd have an easier time believing in the existence of Santa Claus than believing in this pitiful excuse for a god.
